The National Geographic Museum is an ever-changing display of the world in all its vibrant wonder. Visitors are sure to experience something new each time they visit. The Museum features a wide variety of interactive exhibits and stunning photographic displays that are every bit as awe-inspiring and informative as what National Geographic features in their publications. Exhibits are constantly being rotated out, thanks to the work of National Geographic explorers, photographers, and scientists. The museum also hosts speakers and other events, which they call National Geographic Live! events.

The National Geographic Museum has been a place of learning and discovery for over 125 years. Group admission rates are available, and the museum is open every day of the year except Thanksgiving and Christmas.


Interesting Facts

The National Geographic Society was founded in 1888.

National Geographic magazine started out as the National Geographic Society's official journal, the first publication of which came out in October of 1888.

More than 300 research, conservation, and exploration projects are funded by the National Geographic Society.

Past researchers and explorers that the the Society has funded include: excavator of Machu Pichu Hiram Bingham, discoverer of the ruins of the sunken Titanic Robert Ballard, and primatologist Jane Goodall.

National Geographic magazine reached about 60 million readers each month. The magazine is published in 40 local languages in addition to English.
