Martin Luther King Memorial

I have made a lot of visits to the Martin Luther King Memorial. Each visit I am reminded of how great a man Dr. King was. The 30 foot statue of Dr. King grabs your attention . It took 159 stones of granite from China to create this massive statue.
The memorial is surrounded by 117 cherry blossom trees and water. Dr. Kings memorial is placed between the Lincoln Memorial and Jefferson Memorial. He is a King among Presidents
The memorial reflexes the four fundamental messages of justice, democracy , hope and love.As you explore the memorial you will come upon the inscription wall. The inscription wall has 14 quotes from sermons and speeches from 1955 to 1968.The quotes are not in any specific order.
The three major pieces of sculptures are the Mountain of Despair and the stone of Hope Dr.King talked about the mountain of depair and the stone of hope in his speech I have Dream
On the side of Dr. King statue engraved is a misquote. the actual qoute should say If you want to make me a drum major then say I was a drum major for justice.
The address of the king Memorial is 1964 Independence Ave. 1964 is important. It is the year voting rights bill  was passed
