Mount Vernon was the plantation home of the United States first President, George Washington, and his wife, Martha Custis Washington.  It is located just 15 miles south of Washington D.C. along the Potomac River near Alexandria. The historic grounds contain more than just the home.  It also include colonial era buildings, a working distillery and gristmill, beautiful gardens and a museum with an educational center as well.
